About Bessie's
Insured and Pet CPR & First Aid Certified! Bessie's was established in 2006 (the year of the dog!) and is named in loving memory of my dog, Bessie, that passed away in February, 2005, when she was 14 years old. She was very sweet (of course)! I am Insured and Pet CPR & First Aid Certified. I was a volunteer at the Austin Humane Society and each year a percentage of my earnings from this business is donated to them and to Town Lake Animal Shelter. I am very security conscious and don't advertise to passers by in your area that I'm the pet sitter while you're out of town (no t-shirts, no car magnets)! Bessie's Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Service is a one woman company! Yep...just me! In the event that there is an emergency that keeps me from being able to do the visit, my husband is included on my insurance and is an exceptional animal care giver. I also have my own professional pet sitter, Leslie, I can call on. Additionally, I can call on any of my compassionate co-members of Austin Pet Sitters Org. But thank goodness I haven't had to use any back up yet! Ever since I was a child, pets have always been a part of my family. We currently have two cats and three dogs in our family. The cats were adopted from our vet hospital. The labs were already grown when they were adopted, on two separate occasions, from Town Lake Animal Shelter (don't miss their "Big Southern Adventure" on the Check This Out! page), and the Jack Russell, aka "Little" was adopted via a craigslist post from a home that couldn't keep him anymore.
